Blade baits (i.e.: Silver Buddies) are fantastic cold water baits for both bass and lake trout. This will be the first bait I'll have tied on, come April 15 th., when they open the Quabbin reservoir to fishermen. (IF the ice is out by then!!!)

 

If some of you folks are into blade fishing, then by all means, check out the pre-molded blade bodies offered by Barlow's. Very cost effective, with a finished lure (adding your own split rings and trebles) going for less than $1.50, you just can't go wrong. Just be sure you get the short-shank trebles. The standard shank lengths will foul with each other occasionally.
