jim duckworths soft plastic tip

Featured Replies

was watching a video of jim duckworth and he says to keep his plastics better he texas rigs it like normal but then sticks a toothpick thru the plastic and the hook eye and cuts it off so its flat with the plastic. tried it yesterday and it seemed to work. caught multiple fish on a ROBOWORMa plastic that normally doesnt last. does anyone else do this?

I have yet to try it but I did see this in a show the other day. looks interesting.

Odd, I saw it in a show the other day too. Shaw Grigsby was doing it.

It is an old, old trick and it does work very well.

Yup, works fantastic.  The only problem I've ever run into is having a toothpick small enough to fit through some of my hook eyes.  It seems like I always have these super jumbo sized ones around here.

You have to buy the really, really cheap ones. I keep a small pill bottle full of them in my terminal tackle box.

I used to do the same thing with some old, cheap 40 pound test mono.

Don't know exactly why I quit doing this.

I just saw Terry Scroggins show this on Classic Patterns.  Wierd.
