Crankbaits

Featured Replies

So I've been using crankbaits ever since I've been fishing but it seems to me that I only catch bass on cranks in farm ponds. I have yet to land a bass on any lake with a crank. Maybe it the color or the dive or something but I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. I resort to a spinnerbait which seems to me yields more bass than crankbaits. Am I doing something wrong? Am I using cranks in the wrong situation at the wrong place and time? What do you guys think?

Where and how are you using them? I like them a lot around wood cover. Running them into and bouncing off stumps is a great way to get a reaction strike. They are also great around riprap banks and any point really.

I too have more luck on spinnerbaits than cranks, but often that's a produce of the waters I fish where there isn't as much cover to bang a crank off of which is REALLY important in crankbait fishing in triggering a strike. Not to say they don't work for bass around here because they do.
