Figured 'em Out!

Featured Replies

Today was a great day for me! Right off the bat I saw the bass were bedding down and I remembered some tip videos I watched of just shaking a creature bait in the bed and vwahhlah! Brought in 4 bass today first two was a 2lb and close if not a 3lb third one was a lil thing about 12oz maybe and the fourth one was a 1.5lb!

My success was due to usin a soft plastic that looks just like a z hog or kvd rodent but was a local brand called BItters in baby bass sparkle! Rigged on a 1/8oz shakey head! Id cast past the bed reel/jerk it in and let it hit bottom then just shake and twitch it! It was an awesome day!

Creature baits always work well for me on beds. Something you might try is dropshoting a small grub/craw on a bed. I never believed it would work when I was told, but it works really well! Most of my bed fish have come on that rig.

how much line should be between the bait and the drop shot weight?

I usually do 6-8 inches.. you want it so the bait is right in front of the bass's face. The bass will more than likely bite something hovering in front of her face more than if its just laying on her bed.

yeah man i can see that for sure, all mine came from lettin the bait twitch and move around on the bed itself and they hit it pretty hard ill def try that though!

Make sure its a small craw/grub bait though. Like a 2-3 inch craw. It may seem like you need to throw something bigger but trust me, ive seen some pretty big fish caught off beds dropshotting a tiny craw. Also a weightless semko works really well. Hope this helps, tightlines!

For refference, look up the Yum F2 craw on tackle warehouse. It comes in 2.75" and 3.75". Ive caught a few dropshoting this one on beds.
