2 Piece Carbonlite

Featured Replies

I've read a ton of stuff on the one piece carbonlites but not so much on the 2 pieces. Are they good to go? I'm lookin at the 2 piece 7 mh/f casting.

There is inherently some sensitivity that is always lost when you put a joint into a rod, but will it make THAT much of a noticeable difference to the average angler? Probably not. Carbonlites are good rods for their price and even if you lose some sensitivity compared to a solid one-piece, I have no doubt you'll still catch fish if you are using the right lures and putting them in the right spots.

Carbonlites are great rods.  I don't own any 2 piece versions.  I don't really think there is performance disadvantage with a 2 piece though.  I have 2 piece spinning rods of various brands and I still use them.

i would imagine, if you actually tore a cl rod down, it's pretty much a 2 pc rod anyway.  i believe most of the rods in that $100 range, the handle assembly is built on 1 line, and the blank is wrapped on another.  then the handle and blank are epoxied together and finished.  i could be wrong about this though.  the reason i believe it is from the abu veritas.  in front of the reel seat the blank is 2 different sizes.

i would like to try some of the jdm 2 pc rods, where they join in-front/thru the reel seat.  the daiwa steez 8' flip stick is like this.  it would make transport on the long rods easier.

I own and have owned various 2 piece rods like Fenwicks and my crucial spinning and have no issues. I just prefer a 2 piece. The other rod I'm considering is the 6"10 mh/f clarus but recently saw the carbonlite is available in a 2 piece and is supposed to be much lighter than most in its class.

The lower lure rating is 3/8oz,is that accurate?

I own 2 CL's rods. 1 spinner and 1 bc. I consider them good rods. I have never handled a 2 piece CL, but I don't think the difference you will experience will be a deal breaker.
