Best Knife Sharpener?

Featured Replies

Looking for a sharpener for both home and outdoor knives, straight blades and serrated blades.  What are the best choices for both manual and electric?

Thanks-

Arlo

You have to sharpen serrated blades with a ceramic stick sharpener. The Chefschoice sharpeners do a good job of sharpening pocket and utility knives, but they can scratch up really nice knives. This is what I use on my high end kitchen knives and paying customers, but it's expensive.

x3 on the Lansky. i have one and i love it so much. the fact that the angle is held consistent the whole time really makes the knives very very sharp.

i recommend getting the deluxe version though, it has extra coarse, coarse, medium, fine, and ultra fine stones.  http://www.amazon.com/Lansky-Deluxe-5-Hone-Sharpening-System/dp/B000B8IEA4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1298508330&sr=8-1

you can get that triangular serration stone separately. i don't really have a need for the serration stone because i don't use the serrations on my knives very heavily.
