Not Sure What This Means

Featured Replies

My girlfriend and I went out to a local pond this afternoon to do some bream fishing. While we were out there, there were countless bluegill and tiny bass in the shallows. More than Iv seen at that particular pond in one day so far. Another thing I noticed at one particular spot close to the bank, was there were two little bass that kept moving away from and returning to the same spot over and over. It looked like they had their nose down on the spot most of the time, and one kept rolling over on the particular spot. Despite my best efforts to get one to take a worm, they wouldn't. I literally hit them on the back with it a few times and they completely disregarded it.

I wanna say its time for that pond to start spawning, but could be wrong. I thought they were already on the beds, a week or two ago but i havent been able to find any, so maybe they're starting now? I figured you folks could steer me in the right direction.

SO thats what they are calling its these days ;)

Once you find them doing the dance they are completely focused on spawning and its difficult to get them to take a bait. Just keep your eyes open for more beds thats the only way to really tell on the spawn

So it was THE dance.. That thought ran through my mind also, but i didnt want to sound like an idiot.

Yeah if they are rolling around like that you witnessed the actual spawning act.  Pretty cool stuff, i have seen it in brookies but never bass.  Look for the nearest drop off and try and get the ones that haven't spawned yet or you can wait till they are protecting the bed if you are into bed fishing.
