Is spending the extra money worth it for the Micro Magic over the Veritas?

Yes. I started with a Veritas for a season, and based off of some things I read here  I bought a Duckett ... and then another.

Night and day difference IMHO. Not as stiff, way better feel, and sensitive as all get out. The micro guides are not for everyone, but if you're OK with them I'd pull the trigger confidently.

Veritas has 3 years and you can get 2 for the price of one duckett depending on the application you want may work out better

Duckett does offer Macro Magic Rods for those who prefer regular sized guides.

 The Duckett rod's are a night Vs Day difference over the Veritas. Go with the Duckett You will love it.

I agree. I started with a Veritas and it felt dead to me. I also hated the reel seat. The Duckett is much better. If you want to use braid with a leader get the Macro Magic with the regular guides. They do feel a little underpowered so you may want to go one step up.
