Drag Question

Featured Replies

Alright guys, im in the process of taking apart my reels, and lubing them up.. Not a deep cleaning, just a little bit of maintainance.. First time btw.

One of my reels makes an aweful whining sound whenever drag is engaged. Its crazy sounding. Is there any way for me to fix this without a deep cleaning? If so, where do i need to look to correct the problem? Thanks in advance.

Not really, you are gonna have to look at your drag stack and see if any of the washers are sticking.  Two types I'm sure you are aware of but just in case.  There are stainless and fiber washers, only thing I could think of if they haven't been used most of the winter and you had the drag set from before, then there is a possibility that the fiber washer is stuck to one of the stainless ones..  Sorry, but you're gonna have to dig a bit deeper then just oiling and lubing up the reel.
