What Size Spinner?

Featured Replies

What size spinnerbait would you guys throw out to start?

I have a 1/2oz i've played around with a bit and it feels like i'm pulling a truck through the water compared to any crankbait i've ever thrown. (I know they're different, just using as a comparison)  Is that normal with them or could there be something off with how it's moving through the water?  It looks like it's running true, but I haven't used them enough to know the small nuances.

Thanks in advance.

Rich

It will depend on the blade, if there is a big colorado blade on the lure it will be a very heavy retrieve. If you want a faster retrieve, you can change it to a willow blade.

1/2 oz Spinnerbaits usually carry with it big blades. Just like georgeyew  mentioned, big blades offer alot more resistance. Try a spinnerbait the next size lower and you will notice a difference.
