Internal Tube Weights

Featured Replies

Someone told me about a disc shaped internal tube weight that gives tubes an erratic fall. I've searched around, but I can't find them. He also said you could use a penny with a hole drilled in it for similar action. Does anyone know where to find these weights? Has anyone tried them?

I've used them, a small brass sinker will also work just T-rig through the brass loop.

Also check Ike's article on ESPN for finesse tubes and how to rig a stupid tube. There's a thread in this forum and the Smallie one.

MegaStrike Jig with a wire bait keeper is another method I like a bunch. Still need to field test it this year.

Thanks, but thats not what I'm talking about. I'm looking for something that was described as being a flat, disc shaped weight similar to a penny with a hole in it.

Just thinking out loud, but wouldn't a disc distort the head of the tube?  Seems like you'd be a lot more prone to tear up baits inserting the weight, too.  Then again, if the disc is small enough to fit easily, what's the difference in the way it's going to fall versus a regular tube weight?

I think the idea behind it is to distort the head a bit in order to change the way it falls. I don't know. I was just curious because this old fart at the sporting goods store was swearing by them, and I'd never heard of them.

hmmm. The last tube weight idea that almost green lighted the bait monkey for me was Woo's Tungsten Tube Weight from BPS.

But that's not a disc either, if you find it... Please post it. Tubes are awesome. Better yet have the geezer bring in for you. A penny would seem like a strange fit for me... But who knows.

EDIT

I guess a heavier washer would work...

After searching to the end of the interwebz. Cabelas makes a disc sinker... Its just a flatten casting sinker with a brass eye.

Maybe this is unicorn of tube weights? :D
