My older cousin purchased a Ruger 9mm four years ago. Primarily for home defense. Six days after he bought it, his house was robbed while he was at work. The thief's stole dang near everything of value, including the Ruger. He never even had a chance to shoot it.

Six days ago the sheriff's department called him. They had arrested an 18yr old, and found the Ruger in his (the boys) car. Including the two original magazines, and a 30rd magazine. How freaking random/weird is that? Four years that thing has been gone and it just pops back up like that.

After retrieving said firearm. He tells me it looks like it has lead a very rough life over the past four years. Apparently thugs don't know how to clean their firearms after shooting them either. Still I think it's cool he actually got it back.

I have heard of people getting them back 20yrs later, yeah its good that he got it back

Maybe it's broken in by now?....

More seriously, I had a friend whose M&P .45 was stolen and received a call from his local city PD about 2.5 years later that it had been recovered. He was shocked to say the least. And then he had to wait another amount of time before they could release it to him because of its evidentiary value.
