Medium Rod

Featured Replies

How heavy are the jigs? Personally, anything 3/8 and up I use a heavy power rod, but medium heavy will do for anything up to 1/2. The medium won't fit those applications well in my opinion.

What is the lure range for your rod?  My Medium Falcons are 1/4-1/2 oz. and definitely not my choice for 3/8 oz. jig (which probably weigh closer to 1/2 oz., especially if you add a trailer), but I have other Medium rods that are rated to 3/4 oz.  I assume they would work.  I use a MH for 3/8 and above although last year I also used a HF with 1/2 oz. jig plus trailer.  I don't fish a jig much so take my opinion with a grain of salt.  :teeth:

You'll be able to fish light swimjigs and football head jigs (1/4 - 3/8 oz)

Depends on the weight and the wire hook, probably depth and cover as well. I'll fish jigs on a medium power spinning and casting rod, but they don't go over 1/4oz max
