Why Should I Use Jig Heads

Featured Replies

I fish small ponds and lakes in Delaware. Most places are 6-8' deep, and are full of different types of weeds and grass.I use reg.worm hooks on all of my soft baits. So why or should I use jig heads?

Check out Ned Kehde's blog on in-fishermans web page - there you'll find out how deadly light weight jig heads are with soft plastics in shallow water. VERY EFFICIENT

Great blog, light jigheads with finesse worms are my go to baits during cold fronts or in the winter.

The big advantage, IMO, for jig heads vs. bullet sinker and hook is it's ability to add action to the worm and give it added visibility.  Football jig heads are a great example.  Drag one along the bottom and it will make a plastic worm dance like a Hawaiian in a Grass skirt.   Shakey heads can get a bait's tail section up and into the sight line of the fish.
