I've noticed this year, more than normal, I'm hooking fish in their bottom jar and tongue area?

I know it all depends on how the fish eats it sometimes but what is the deal?

What type of bait is it happening with? What type of knot are you tying?

happened twice this morning. one was a t-rigged senko and the other was on a rage rig. both tied w imprpved clinch knot.

 

the only thing i can think of is that im waiting too long to set the hook. the fish have been biting very light and not very aggressively. so once i feel the bite, im waiting a little longer than normal to set the hook.

 

im not really sure. i just dont want to harm the fish.

that makes since. bc most of my fish are coming off of cypress trees. so if the bass are using the tree to pin my bait agsinst the tree, then that would put them in between me and the bait.
