Question Concerning Braid/mono Leader

Featured Replies

I always hear about braid's sensitivity being superior. If I were to spool my jig rod with braid, and a mono leader, how long/short of a leader would be needed for the braids sensitivity to be beneficial?

Braid will be more sensitive than mono on a tight line but less sensitive if it's slack. You can go very long on the leader without noticing much if any difference. Think if you made a 40 yard cast with a 3 foot leader. Only 2.5% of the effective line would be mono.

Ultimately I just want a more sensitive line for my jig rod, but have heard a lot of bad things about fluoro and it just turns me off time and time again. Is fluoro really that bad when it comes to kinks in the line, and being fragile? What is the knot strength like with fluoro?
