Usually a Chompers head.  If not that, 1/8oz Tungsten unpegged on a 3/0 flipping hook.

I like the Chompers 1/4 or 3/8oz brush jig.  They work extremely well for me.

A 4" hula grub needs a hook a lot smaller than 3/0.

I'd suggest an Owner Rig-N hook; 1/0 size for t-rigging.

i agree.  i throw these a lot.  i use either a 1/0 or 2/0

gamakatsu ewg.  1/0 seems to work best for me.

since i fish from the bank a lot, i fish them weightless (less hang ups) or with as little weight as possible..either 1/8 or 1/4oz

I think it depends on the cover you are throwing that hoola grub in.

If I was pitching cover: MH to H rod 7' or +, braid or heavy flouro, 5/0 straight shank hook.

Open water smallies I may fish it on a football head shakey head and a spinning rod.

I like to use the Hula Grub on a 3/8 Strike King Tour Grade Football Shakey jig and drag it around just like a football jig.

That may be the case, but I've found that the 3/0 works best for me in the application. The thread topic was what's your favorite rig and hook size. That's my favorite hook size to use with them. The Owner Riggin hook ends up with roughly the same length and hook gap as the Straight/short shank flipping hook I use.
