Low_Budget_Hooker
Best bet is to buy a beginner's fly tying book It won't tell you how to tie a jig but would explain all the steps of tying, knots, wraps, etc. It will explain the tools and dfferent fibers, hairs, and their charachteristics. Then apply the knowledge. Not very hard to do, I could answer any q's you come up with but you really need the pics and stuff to get a good understanding. Curado
Thanks, I might try that if I see one of those books anywhere.
Low_Budget_Hooker
Actually, when I started, my girlfriends dad had gotten me a fly tying kit for christmas. They have them from $49. I think mine was the $79 one and well worth it. I got a vice, all kinds of materials, marabou, deer hair, chennile, etc. All other tools for basic stuff which is all you need for jigs. Also included was a book. Here's one I just googled, first hit http://www.jsflyfishing.com/cgi-bin/item/OF-901060-0000
earthworm77
Look up articles on the web on tying jigs. Find one written by Phil Shafer. He has a how to and is likely the premier custom jig tyer in the country. I spent some time with him a few years back and he taught me the ropes. Good stuff. Rabbit hair.
