this question is for those of you who build rods.  I know that the quality of guides that are put on the rod is directly related to the sensitivity of the pole so what guides would you recomend to use on a casting pole that I may want to put fireline on but also will use mono on it too.

You will not notice much difference in sentitivity of the guides unless you are talking about the super cheap POS guides. If you are wanting to use braid, I'd suggest using one of the Fuji guides with an SiC insert. I believe SiC is or at least was the hardest guide material made. Most all of the guides will be resistant to braid these days though. Your blank will have much more to do with sensitivity than anything else. Lighter is always better in a rod where sensitivity is concerned, so I guess the Titanium guides will be as sensitive as they get.

I have said it before so here goes again. The sensitivity of a rod is a direct result of proper implementation of "design" in a fishing rod. Blank, grips, seat, and guides all play a part in the sensitivity of a rod. You can go out and spend tons of money on hyped up guides but if the blank is poor quality and you use a lot of poorly designed cork, and low quality reel seats you will have a fishing rod, but one that is less than what you expected. Custom fishing rods are not just poles, they are fishing tools.

I like Reel Mech's thinking.  Design is very important.  SiC's are overkill for bass fishing IMHO.  They are pretty and nice and expensive!!  having said that Fuji's are very popular with custom and factory built rods and with good reason.  They are the lightest (splittin hairs here) and also the most durable ie less inserts popping out.  Get the Fuji Alconites as your best bang for the buck.  You will have ZERO problems with Alconite with braid.
