White Lake, Nc?

Hey y'all-

Any advice for tackling the shallow White Lake, NC? Family vacation... South East side of the lake.

I've fished it before, couple/few years back, had some good success with a 3 and 5 pounder under docks among numerous bass caught. Also done some online research this time going in.

Experience so far:

Yellow perch are the dominant bait stealers, bait chasers, etc. Caught a few, plus a nice sized sunfish. One of my boys caught a 3# LMB, I had at least a 3 or 4# on the line which spit the hook jumping clear out of the water just off my yak - again. No, wasn't a swimbait this time. LOL.

Using soft plastics, seems like watermelon colors getting hit/catching everything, no other color/combos getting action. Small spinnerbaits get hit and followed, nothing else. Nothing on swimbaits, cranks, rattletraps, etc.

So we've had success, and all has been in the no-wake zone in the grass on the bottom. Nothing from under, or around docks. Granted, I probably need to be out at night and in the early AM, but I don't have lights on any of the yaks, so safety first, and I am keeping us all in the no wake zones given the boaters, skiiers on the lake.

Thanks in advance!
