Team Kvd

Has anybody tried this reel out? thinking about picking one up.

Hi Nick,

I tried this reel out because my brother owns it and for me backlash after backlash; even when I engage the brakes to the max it still gave me problems and while I'm no expert at baitcasting reels I'm no novice either. If your looking to spend $120.00 on a reel there are better options out there. Hope this helps

The team KVD bait caster

Hi Nick,

I bought one of these reels on sale at BPS. I haven't used it a lot but it is an OK reel. Not great, not bad, just OK. I don't have any problems with back lashes. However, if it was me, I would get a Tatula for the same or less money. I like the Tatula way better than the KVD.

Usually these KVD reels are junk. They looks sweet no doubt, but read some of the reviews on BPS. Horrendous.

Six reviews, all 5 stars, BPS. Small sample, but they all seem to be happy.

The past models were said to be abysmal. I've never used one though. May be all bc rookies who don't know what they are doing?

It's probably worth a shot.  There is some stiff competition at that price point though.  I have an Accurist PT and it is essentially the same reel with a different color scheme.  My Accurist is a very quiet and smooth reel but due to them being a farmed Chinese produced reel, there is a strong possibility that some of the reels are going to come out of the box screwed up.  The Korean Doyo stuff has better quality control so you might want to look at the BPS Pro Qualifier or Lews reel.

That new KVD reels does look pretty sweet I will admit.

I bought a kvd reel last year. I hate it. Just sold it actually. Didn't like the feel of it and couldn't dial it in. I'll stick with my revos

Backlashing with these reels seems to be the biggest complaint, though reading about this new model that doesn't seem to be the case.

Not to mention Tatula R's can be had for around $130.

Thank you I did get it though and had to tighten it down all the way but threw okay probably a good reel for light baits I'll be giving it a workout tomorrow

Good luck and I hope it performs for ya, tight lines.

You may already know this, but the reel has dual braking.  There is a 6 pin centrifugal brake accessible by removing the non-handle side plate.  It off by default and can be engaged by turning the dial so that the red dot indicator is above one of the 6 numbers with the chosen number indicating the quantity of centrifugal brakes engaged.  4 is a good place to start and you should definitely not need to tighten the CC knob all the way.

The reel is great you just. Need to know that there is a cast control under the side plate even though there is the dial there are 2 tighten that to 3 ish and then the outside ones and you're good to go
