Flipping/pitching Baitcaster

Featured Replies

So i noticed when i'm pitching my line tends to spool up on one side and I have to pull off a bunch of line and reel in to even it out, anyone know why this is happening? The level winder is working perfectly fine, and it doesn't always wind to the same side after I even it out, sometimes left side sometimes right. Could it just be from throwing such a short amount of line out and reeling it back in over and over without a long cast?

What reel you using and how old?  A lot of times I have noticed this happening in the way that the spool was lined.  You should run the line through all the guides, and have fairly tight spool drag if doing it at home.  Most of the time you want the line to come off the top of the spool facing you, have an assistant hold the spool with a pencil and apply light pressure.  Other option is having the tackle shop spool it on, the machine has the correct tension to do it perfectly imo.  One other question, what line are you using?

That's kinda normal, also holding you're rod at various angles aids in uneven line distribution, some reels are worse at it than others. I just cast away and reel back and go back to flippin

I noticed this a few times on my reels. Without knowing it my thumb was actually touching the line at some points stopping it from going it to the one side giving it the illusion it was only spooling on the other side

Alright, wasn't sure if it was just my reel, thanks :)
