I have been fishing all of my life but this year I actually have been working on improving my bass fishing skills. The lake that I fish is not a premiere bass fishing lake. And I'm one of the only few fisherman who actually fishes for bass on that lake. I do good with flukes when I am try to catch a lot of bass. I do good with jigs when I am trying to catch bigger fish. I understand different water conditions call for different fishing tactics. But in general, what is your favorite lure/technique for catching numbers and what is your favorite lure/technique for catching big bass?

numbers.... 4" worm will catch you lots of fish. Might not all be giants but they will keep you busy. As for size jigs or swimbaits.

For numbers in a variety of situations, I like a 4 or 5in. worm. For big bass it's one of two things, a buzzbait or a big worm.

I'm for both. But definitely some eater sized on every trip.

 

 

I caught small and large bass on Ragetail Toads and Senkos the last couple of years. This year I tried jigs and have had a  lot of success with KVD Swim Jig and either a KVD Rodent or Zoom Super Chunk. All of the bass I caught on these have been a 1.5lbs or larger. The swim jig gets the big ones apparently.

Wacky rigged senko style bait always catches me numbers and its usually in the 2 to 3 lb range.  Big fish will hit it too but I have found that the big ones around here like jigs(1/4 and 3/8 oz) and grubs(fat albert).  It seems the bigger fish will go for the smaller baits more than the bigger baits.  In the spring during the pre spawn they go nuts on bullfrog tadpoles and they hit a grub with force.  I guess they get to that age and size and get lazy and don't want to chase fish around too much.
