Douglas Lake Trip

Featured Replies

Hey guys I'm heading to Douglas Lake on Thursday. I have read a little bit about it, but I want some tips and info. If anyone has some I would be thankful!

Well my friend, my bud just fished there a few days ago. He said the largemouth were coming out of deep depressions or up along humps, or on shorelines with trees shading the water and rip rap. Lure wise it was pretty much anything AS LONG AS( as my friend put it) you just use the lure as it was designed to use. Nothing fancy nothing crazy. Crankbaits tended to pull out the bigger ones. He caught a couple good 3 pounders on a shad rap. I guess it's just one of those times when the bass are being straightforward and not to crazy. Just being predictable. So crank baits, plastic worms with a bullet wait just around shore and then maybe try a lipless crankbait just for giggles. If it doesn't produce then cut it. What do you gave to lose is how I try! Haha.

Good luck into your endeavors and catch some big ones for us!

Talk soon

I've had decent luck with jigs there.  Also Trigged brush hogs.  My parents live on the lake (just moved) so we're still figuring it out... Its a massive lake though.

Caught a 7lber Saturday though :)

How'd the trip go? I'm thinking about heading to Douglas this weekend. How is the boat traffic on the weekends? Anyone been night fishing there?
