I'm thinking of mounting a Humminbird 140c on my inflatable boat.

 

Wondering if anyone has one of these, and if so, what's your opinion of them -vs- a standard fishfinder like a Lowrance X-4?

 

I'm looking for something pretty basic. I fish pretty shallow lakes/ponds and I'm more looking for something to show me depth, temp, and bottom contour.

 

I am looking to stay pretty inexpensive too, but if the 140c really offers that much more ability, I'll be willing to pay more for it.

 

Also, for my use is it imperative to have a color screen?
