Anybody Successfully Shore Fishing Wisconsin Waters?

Im boatless atleast for the time being. I've been trying to shore fish around here and have been relatively unsuccessful. I live in madison wisconsin and I fish lake monona, mendota, waubesa, and rock lake. Anyone know of any good public access shore fishing spots on any of those lakes? What should I be throwing? Are there any other ponds or small ponds or lakes in my area I should go fish? Thanks for the advice
