Is mid day summer bank fishing still difficult on very overcast, stormy days? It's still hot but it's been storming like crazy for the past few days.

I just caught like a 3lb largemouth on a squarebill from shore, and it was fairly cloudy. Wait until the rain stops and throw a popper. When it rains all kinds of bugs and stuff fall in the water, and a popper imitates a baitfish feeding on those bugs.

During a storm I usually fish a frog thru the pads because that's where the fish are under when they don't want to get wet....

summer day. It cools things down, and the bass will either come shallower from the depths or q wander out more from cover.

I'd rather it be over cast than sunny with blue skies.

I caught a 6lb largemouth bass on a t-rigged pit boss a few days ago when it was overcast. A few minutes later it started thunder-storming so we left. There is no need to be standing on the bank and have your fishing rod turn into a lightning rod.

I see you reside in MA as well. Western end of the state here. I do a fair amount of fishing from the banks in between boating trips. The weather here has been terrible to say the least. But with all the high water around, opportunities abound. Stick with a Texas rigging with large soft baits, i.e.: Yum Mitey Bug. I actually rig it on a swimbait hook and try getting it under the over hanging brush or timber. The largies love it!

Someone caught 6 bass near the pads that night on another local pond
