Skeet Reese Honeycomb Alabama Rig Rod For Swimbaits?

Featured Replies

Hey guys so I found a Skeet Reese Honeycomb Alabama Rig Rod at Dunhams today. I also have a 30% coupon right now so I could get the rod really  cheap. I am wondering how it would be for throwing a BBZ-1 or the BBZ-1 Rat when it comes out? The rod is 7'5 Hvy and is rated for 1-3 1/2 oz lures and 15-40lb line. Would this make for an ok rod for this?

Should be fine, as long as those baits are within the rating of the rod. I met a guy the other day using these rods for big musky bucktail spinners. He liked it because its powerful enough but still lite and more comfortable to throw all day.

Ok thanks!

I have his heavy cover Honeycomb rod and I like it. Lite, sensitive, good power for punching. I have thrown swim baits on it for deep water with heavy mono, and I could feel the bottom pretty clearly with it.
