1996 Bass Tracker Pro 18 Jet

Featured Replies

I am new to the forum and look forward to continued membership.

I am considering the purchase of a 1996 Bass Tracker Pro 18 Jet 95hp.  The asking price is $3200.  Motor has been recently completely rebuilt and there are many newly replaced items such as seats and carpet.  What do you guys on here think of this boat?  I thought it seemed like a pretty sweet deal at first but after finding what I could online many say to stay away.  Some say if the motor goes the boat is junk because it is too hard to replace.  Some say the older trackers are cheaply made.  Others really did not state why they do not like them.  I currently have a 1436 jon with a 6hp motor.  So I am looking to upgrade and the $3,000 is in my price range.  So don't recommend boats that would cost much more.  Also, I fish shallow rivers in the summer so I thought the jet would come in handy.  Getting in the water to clean the intake is no big deal to me.

Pros, cons, suggestions, input ??????????

Thanks.

I own a starcraft with an outboard jet, so I'm on the river often. I can tell you that I've observed those inboard jet Trackers running some very skinny water. So, that is a plus.

If it is true that the motor was recently rebuilt, and it was rebuilt well I would say that is a pretty sweet deal. As far as people saying that it is cheaply made, you just have to ask yourself one question-- does is still float without taking on water?

If it still does this one simple function after almost 20 years, I'd say that it was made pretty solid (as i have heard that most trackers typically are) and that is about all you need it for anyway. As long as you aren't deliberately running it aground, I am sure it will also stay that way :)

You have any pictures?

Boat is sold.  Was not even on craigslist for 24 hours.

Jet boats in harrisburg don't last very long.  My dad has that same boat, newer though but with the bigger motor, not sure i would want it with that smaller motor.  They are built with pretty thin hulls and do not take abuse very well on rivers but for occasional river use they are fine.

Too bad that one sold though because i would have made a trip up there to test ride in it and see what it was all about :)
