Why does my rage toad want to swim up side down when reeling it in. I been using a #4 hook and I tried a couple different hooks, like the screw lock and offset worm.

It will do that if you have a slight bow in it. Make sure it is straight and flat.

I found that when you first insert the hook to texas rig it, insert it to where there will be more plastic on the bottom than on the top. This will help it to run right-side up.

I use a Gamakatsu hook with a Twistlock, I've found that the frogs last much longer that way.

 

 

 

I used to get about 1-2 fish per frog, but when I switched to the twist lock I can get around 5 fish before a leg gets nipped off usually. It's never been because the toad got pulled down the hook and ruined like they used too without the twistlock.

You can also buy some Ribbit Double Take hooks, they help the frogs run better.  The heavier hooks keep the right side down.  Plus, more hookups.

I have a pack of these. Never tried them before. I see that they have a weighted double hook for frogs now too and that looks good. I think I will try my double hooks next time I'm fishing.
