Getting into Airbrushing Lures...advice/help?

Featured Replies

I would like to get into airbrushing lures, but I don't know where to start as to what kind of airbrush or airbrush kit to buy, or the types of paints.  Are there templates that guys use, or is it all freehand?  Any advice would be awesome in getting started, or even some type of guide.  Thanks for looking.

Well if your going to do it do right, keep in mind I warned you it is addictive.

1.   Buy a good quality brush, and there are several and each maker usually has several models to choose from. Make sure that whatever you buy has replacement or repair parts available. I use two brushes an Iwata HPC and a Paacshe VL. The Iwata is the best for detail, the Paacshe I usually use to spray primer.

2.  I use Createx acrylics, If you use a solvent type paint you will need an external exhaust system.

3.  I cut my own stencils, but taxidermy supply shops carry some stencils as well as some airbrush stores.

4.  Most of the art store type airbrush books really don't help much for bait painting but lots of practice and experimentation with paints and pressures will.

kb here :do what whittler says and you wont go wrong a great bait maker :-*  kb
