Help with making Plaster Molds!!!

Featured Replies

1.At what consistency should the plaster be at when using it??

2. I am having problems with bubbles in the top half of the mold, any suggestions?

Thanks a lot. ;D

If you glue your baits down and pour the pop on top you wont get any bubbles. If you are pressing them into the pop, hit the container on top of your counter a few times to help bring all the bubles out. You can also do thid if you are pouring the pop on top of your masters. the consistancy should be similar to ketchup

1. Think cake batter or a little thinner.

2. Stir, stir, stir the bubbles to the sides of the container. Tap the container sharply on the table top to pop more bubbles. Use a popsickle stick or butter knife to be sure the water is well mixed and the plaster consistent.

Coat the cavity with some kind of water soluble sealer and pour away in 30 min.!

I molded #1 and #2 lures on Sunday for a friend.

Devcon 2 ton sealer (not the 5 min. stuff), they sell it at walmart.

You must glue the original down, I have set up the mold making rig using small lego blocks over a piece of foamcore which I covered with wax paper. Then I used large sewing pins through the bait to hold it down. Pour the plaster and then I use a spoon handle to tap into the plaster all around the bait to release air bubbles.
