Ken, are you using the polyurathane sealer and are you using a water based paint? Sounds like something is not compatable or the wood has to much moisture. If you have an accurate scale, I'm a shooter so I have a powder scale, weigh a small block of the wood, then microwave on high for 1min. Let it sit in the microvave for 10 min. then zap it again for 1min, then weigh it again and see how much weight is lost. If it loses more than 5% of its weight its to wet. I sometimes microwave blanks before putting on sealer, it really sucks it up.

kb here    yes ia'm useing polycarbonate sealer and water base createx paint.  i have a wood moisture gauge i think i will be abe to tell the water content that way.  took the two lures after 3 days and wet sanded the clear with 2000  paper and used mequiars mirroz glaze  compound..   what i used on base-coat   clear coat    paint on cars  and i did improve them 75%   you really have to get down and study them to see the flaws.  ia'm happy with them  not a 100% happy but happy.  will give the water content a try  thanks again  kb
