Stupid Goose

Featured Replies

Was fishing at night, a goose flies out of nowhere, gets tangled in my line, then as he lands in the water my buzzbait goes flying with him. About 30 yards out, he starts flapping like crazy as I try to get my buzzbait back... I assume he gets hooked onto it because I tried to tug on the line, but my bait doesn't free itself. Well I didn't know what to do, so I just cut the line before the hook could severly puncture it. He flies away soon after I cut the line, and I lose my Cavitron. Darn.

The goose came in as soon as my lure hit the water, so my line was still in mid air.... Didn't end too well

Do you think it would have been your PB goose?

Should have been throwing a 12" slammer on 30lb mono, you could have had a shot at him  :eyebrows:

So there's a bird with a cavitron hang out of him flying around somewhere?? Hahaha

I was throwing a Rebel Pop-R once & made a long cast near a dock. Apparently this startled a nearby coot, who started running (flying?) across the surface of the water. He is between me & the dock, headed right for my line laying on the surface. I jamb my rod tip into the water, trying to get my line below the feet of the oncoming coot, but it didn't work. The coots feet snag my line, causing the lure to be dragged forward. Obvious this kind of retrieve was something bass rarely see & was tempting enough for one keeper to hammer the popper. So now the coot is fighting me on one side of the line & a bass on the other, still doing that coot surface running thing but not advancing too far. After a few seconds, the coot gets his feet free of the line & scampers down the cove. I reel up the slack, the bass is still there & I bring him to the boat.
