Bog Baits Frog Review

Featured Replies

I recently bought some Bog Baits Frogs and was able to fish them for 5 days.

Here are my observations and opinion on the baits:

I used 4 different frogs.

Natural Series Kickin Frog
Color: Black top
Size: 3.75 inch 5 pack
Style: Floating
Belly Color: White Belly

They are very well made and they do float unlike some advertised floating baits. They are quite a bit firmer than most
solid body soft plastic frogs

.

I found they got plenty of hits but almost impossible to get a hook set. I believe it was due to the firmness of thr plastic not allowing to hook to clear the hook slot.
I chaned the hooks from the 4/0 Offset Wide Gap Hooks provided to 4/0 Owner TwistLock Open Gap Centering Pin Hooks.

This changed my hook up ratio to about 80% instantly. The hook was able to clear the hook slot much easier and still remained weedless while retrieving it.

After changing the hooks I found the bait to work very well and was exactly what I was looking for in a solid floating frog.

Also it is a very durable bait and after 5 days of heavy use, all the frogs are still very usable.

I will be buying more of them as they performed well for me.

I hope this review will provide some information to anyone who is considering purchasing these baits.

Thanks for the heads up! Always looking to add a different action to the frog box. I like the looks of those ribbon legged ones!
