I have an 18' Lowe aluminum boat and I frequently fish in areas that get unexpectedly shallow.  When it is too shallow or gnarly for the trolling motor, the push pole becomes a necessary piece of equipment.  I've always carried one, dating back to the times when I fished out of a 10' pond boat.  I'm surprised more guys don't.

Push pole is what i know them as....i have one that doubles as a stake out pole for my kayak and other than your normal fishing gear, it is my favorite tool to carry with me.

you ever fish around high falls lake much?  not too terribly far from you i don't think.  just wondering if you've ever had much luck out there.  i've never caught very many fish period, but the few i've caught were quality.
