How to Build a Flyfishing Reel?

Sooooo......  

I have access to some nice machinery, ladels, laser steel cutters, etc., and it was recently suggested to me that I could make a nice fly reel with it. I have plenty of materials, but I haven't a clue of a cool design that would work well. As for my prefferred braking system, click drag is fine, but if any of you guys know how to build something better I'm all for it! Thanks for any help.
