I have a balsa crankbait with a circuit board lip.  It has a very tight wobble, but I would like to increase the side to side motion and give it a wider wobble.  

What are some things you think I can do to increase the wobble.?

Avid usually moving the angle of the lip downward or moving the line tie closer to the body of the bait will increase the wobble. Both can be tough to do without some paint or body repair.

Avid if you could post a pic of that bait that would be helpful.  But more than likely you will destroy that lure trying to change the action.  

It would probably be better to buy a new lure that is desined for the action you are looking for.

It won't be the first time.

I do stuff like this all the time.  I'll never forget the reaction I got when I repainted a megabass pop max.  It was fun, and it worked.

Then there are the other times.   I just like to play around with them.

I think adding (rather than moving) a line tie close to the body is a good idea.

I have had to throw a many of them away myself, this is a hobby of trial and error.

You can move that line tie with a lighter, cut the tie(leaving as much excess as possible) heat for about 1 min. and pull it out.   I have done this on several baits.  Good luck with yours.

I have not tried it, but it sounds like it might be a good try.  There is a not I read about in a book I have about Largemouths.  IT is called a bowline knot.  It is a knot that is supposed to allow the crankbait to swng freely on the line.  I guess it would increase thw wobble if the bait is swinging freely.  It is worth looking up and trying before you alter your bait.  The name of the book is "Largemouth Bass" by Don Oster.

I use a "loop knot" to tie all my crankbaits that don't come with a split ring( or something similar). I found it as the "Rapala Knot" on this website ( it's animated, klick on "slow" to better see how it's done). I hope the link works:
