Lew's Speed Spool Spinning Reels

Featured Replies

I had a couple of them they weren't bad reels but I like the Pflueger Presidents better for about the same price point. I think I still have a Lews 200 but don't really use it anymore, it has become a backup.

I havent tried the lews speed spool model but if you save a little more i absolutely reccomend the tournament high speed spin or team gold spinning. Both are awesome reels. Lightweight for their size, super smooth, strong drags, and zero line twist issues. Both are graphite frame reels but ive never experienced frame flex, even with hard fighting 10+ lb stripers. My tournament reel weighs 8.something ounces and the team weighs not much more than 7 ounces and i have the 300 size reels because stripers take a lot of drag. I also use them for smallmouth and largemouth finesse techniques, and believe me if they will handle a striper, they will sure handle any other bass you will catch

I have 3 Lews spinning reels (ls100, lg200, ss300a) and they work well for me. They aren't the smoothest or most shiny but the drags are smooth and for the price they are a good deal. The 100 and 300A came with spare spools which I liked a lot, I can fish mono or switch to braid when the situation calls for it. Check out Amazon or eBay. I've never fished with anything to high end though, but I'm a budget kinda guy so I'm happy with them, plus the Lews customer service is pretty good also.
