Best Buzzbait/spinnerbait Tackle Box?

Featured Replies

  • Super User

I recall someone starting a thread on this awhile ago. I searched and couldn't find it. But I thought I'd share what I'd found. I have tried all sorts of buzzbait/spinnerbait boxes. Flambeau (with and without Z-rust), Plano, and some others. I've tried over 5 different models made exclusively for buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. (I can say that the Flambeau large spinnerbait box with Z-Rust's top sits high above the lures and if you put any pressure on it will cause a crack in the lid. Don't ask me how I know. lol).  I've tried flats ones, square ones, long ones, all kinds and this is the best I've found. It's also not that expensive. I found mine at Fleet Farm.

It's the Plano 350500 Hydro Flo Spinnerbait Stow Away.

It ranges from $8-12 dollars depending on where you find it.

-  Although it says "spinnerbait" it's holds buzzbaits well also.

-  Seems big at first, but it fills up quickly. (I thought this is considerably larger then the last ones I've tried and was worried about it's large size. But with my buzzbaits and spinnerbaits combined it got filled up.)

-  Has top and bottom ventilation holes which is a really nice feature.

-  Holds a lot of lures. 72 to be exact.

-  Not expensive. Ranges from $8-$11.

-  Built very sturdily.

I keep my spinnerbaits and buzzbaits in the same tackle box and I've noticed that these tackle boxes always fog up after I put my lures in them. I am guessing that because of the skirts they retain more water on them then say a crankbait or stickbait. So, having ventilation on top and bottom of the box is really nice.

I always open up my tackle boxes after fishing so the lures don't rust since I've had some lures rust on me. With the ventilation holes in this one it's not a problem. (I have a Flambeau Z-Rust tackle box but didn't realize that the Z-Rust stops working after awhile, which makes sense. With holes in the tackle box this isn't a problem anymore.)

So, if you are looking for the perfect tackle box for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, take a look at this one. I couldn't be happier.

A CD case works well and is not all bulky like spinner boxes. I don't own 72 spinners or buzz baits but I have 2 of the single slot books with some In it. You could use the big ones that hold 4 per page if your have tons.

I have the same box. Trust me, if you put buzz baits in there, it doesn't even hold half of the advertised 72 baits. None of my lures have rusted yet either, but there is rust on the bottom of the box. So I'm guessing that any rust that occurs, drips off the lures as they dry.

I bought one of the deep Bass Mafia boxes for crankbaits. It is black on the inside & although it held more crankbaits than I would ever use in a day, I did not like it because I couldn't see the bait without pulling it out part way (openings are vertical). This wasted a lot of time looking for a specific bait so I quit using it. Then I read where someone used a Dremel tool & notched the movable dividers for spinnerbaits & buzz baits. This is genius as now it holds an enormous number of baits that hang close enough to the top to see easily. And the adjust ability makes it easy for the bigger buzz baits.
