The Truth about Swimbaits

Featured Replies

I just went online and purchased a couple 5" Perch swimbaits to fish in my local lakes. How many guys\girls in here (not from California, No offense) have caught fish on a swimbait and how? I really want a lunker and a swimbait is something that I don't think many people around here are throwing. I know a ton of fish are caught on a swimbait in California and other places but I'm in Tennessee and I really think it would work I just need to know how to fish with one. Any advice would be wonderful. Thanks in advance to all the great tips I'm sure I'll get! ;D

I use them often and they catch fish anywhere. My trick is to fish it slow. If you think you are going to slow you need to slow down some more. That little tail with flutter at the slowest of speeds. You can also bounce some of them off of the bottom. Not all are designed to do this. You will see alot of following bass as you bring it to the boat. When you see this one thing to do is to make a figure eight in the water with your bait. Many times it will trigger a strike.

Thats a muskie trick!! It doesn't work on bass. :D

I was checking out the perch swimbaits too. Either that or an ultimate bluegill. Baitmonkey's knockin.
