i need a good reliable source for lip material with out having to buy pre made lips. what is something i may have around the house that could make a good lip?

Just go to mcmaster-carr, and order you a sheet of polycarbonate and g-10.  That will be enough lip material to last you a while.

i might do that. how do i cut it?

You can cut that stuff with a pair of tin snips, coping saw, heavy duty scissors, scroll saw, or band saw.  If you cut the polycarbonate on a power saw leave the white wrap on it while you cut.  Keeps the edges from sticking together.

ok. is there a website i can go to to get this stuff? also, that polycarbonate/lexan ive seen doesnt look like you could cut it w/ tinsnips!

www.mcmaster-carr.com, you want to get 1/16 inch thick polycarbonat and 1/32 inch thick g-10.  The poly is softer than it looks, but tough as nails.

You can go to almost any glass/window shop and they carry Lexan. You can buy it by the sheet, or you can buy smaller custom cut lengths. I get a piece that is 4" wide and 48" long for between $5-$6. I buy the .065 lexan.(1/16") I can make between 25-30 lips from one cut.
