help making quill bobbers

Featured Replies

I used to fish with these back in the 60s and I can't find any around here. Bought some porcupine quills and would like to make some crappie bobbers out of them.  If I remember correctly they had a little metal winding at the bottom and a small rubber band in the center.  I would like to make them a slip style that will go down the line and stop at the split shot and then when you toss it out it will ride back up the line and stop at a bobber stop. This makes it easy to just raise up the rod and swing out into tight spots. I will need a metal winding at the bottom AND in the center for the line to go through.

Can someone post a drawing of a quill they might have made like this.  many thanks to you.

I have seen one but it had an eye on top for your line.  I don't remember any rubber on it at all.  Sorry I cannot be more helpful to ya.
