Tips for painting

Featured Replies

Looking for some tips, I see the patterns some of you put on your baits,

Im assuming you use screens / nets to put the checker patterns on, Are you guys using airbrushes? If not how do you prevent the paint from running?

Any special types of paints you guys use?

I finally got some baits carved out, they look good, seem to run good, Now i just want to make them look good after painted ;)

Thanks for the help.

netting is good for painting over, the streaks can be sanded off if they exist, but if you're good enough with a spray can or airbrush they don't exist.

there is several kinds of paint people use, but i've heard of people using brushes and the wal-mart craft paint. as for tips get a short piece of pvc pipe and practice spray painting on that. the wal-mart spray that comes in a blue can is really good, just don't forget to use primer. I've heard that 5-6 THIN coats work the best.

I really hope this helps or clarifies a lot of things, if you are not impressed with your spaying skills, I'll paint them for you, just send me a PM and what you want them to look like.

For me, an airbrush is the easiest way to get professional results. You can use spray cans for some paint schemes, but the possabilities are limited due to the size of the spray pattern.

As far as paint types, Createx, Apple Barrel, and Delta are what I have now.
