A friend of mine is using this to clean his reels and parts. (here) It is a Staples cleaner for Whiteboards, when I looked at it ingredients it seemed like not a good idea.  Of course I'm not an expert though.  It says it environment friendly.  What do you guys think?  He says it's awesome to clean with.  I'm hesitant to use it. 

I also feel like I should tell him not too use it either!

Without knowing specifically what ingredients are in it, it's impossible to know whether or not it would be safe for cleaning reels. 

 

Looking at the MSDS  for that product, it seems that it is mostly ethanol (ethyl alcohol) and glycol ether. Either one on these chemicals may react with some types of plastics or paints.

 

Bottom line: I would avoid it and use something that's been established in the market as a safe cleaner.
