Canoe Thwart Removal?

Featured Replies

So I recently got a 14 foot michi craft aluminum canoe. But it has three thwarts, and they take up a lot of the center working room. It's a heavy duty canoe built to handle rivers up north. I'm just floating lakes and ponds and canals and such in fl. Would it be okto remove the two outer thwarts and leave the center one installed? The boat seems rigid still.

We had this issue back in high school. Boat building class and I wanted to use mine for fishing. Mine was wooden with a fiberglass coating. One thwart worked for me. Shouldn't be any different for an aluminum canoe.

When I was younger we had a fiberglass canoe with one thwart but I wasn't sure for an aluminum canoe since there a lot thinner. I figure worst I can do is try it and if it feels funny put them back in. Thanks for the help

Just feeling your pain. Hope all works well.
