Non-Ruger Charger Build

Featured Replies

I probably spent too much on this build but I had fun doing it and it's my first from scratch. The only thing ruger in there is the trigger group but that will probably change in the future. I put it together with plinking in mind but decided I would rather shoot it from the bench so the trs-25 is for sales in favor of a pistol scope. Haven't took it to the range yet as I still need to change a few things like that tiny troy cqb grip, bipod and pick up more magazines, but it should be sweet. It's put away until funds allow and 22lr become more available but I thought I would share.

Nice, I will look forward to seeing how you like the elite 22 vs the kidd you had on another build right?

Never owned a Kidd receiver because they make them as rifle receivers only and a SBR isn't doable in my near future.

The finish on the elite is fantastic. The anodizing on the inside made it a bit rough but nothing a few minutes with some scotch brite wouldn't fix.

Oh yea, the famous crotch brite trick known by all .22 builders.

I build an all Kidd rifle back in the fall, and love the way it shoots.  What trigger group are you going with?  I have a Kidd and also a stock built trigger group, and the Kidd is nice, but for the money the stock built group is pretty hard to beat!

I think I'll send it to brimstone for their basic trigger work for the time being. Everything I've read says it's an excellent value especially for the price they offer their work at.

Eventually I'll go with an aluminum TG go from there. Adjustable sear and over travel etc.. But that won't be for a long while. The Kidd kits are tempting though!

Care to share some pics of your Kidd build?

My built trigger is the middle stage Brimstone. I think you will be very happy with it, especially over stock.

Only pic I have loaded on computer right now, but I will take some more:

Very nice. I've always liked the way those thumb hole stocks looked but never seen one in person. What distance do you shoot?

Is that a Kidd Bolt too? I have a cast jwh black bolt. It's my first aftermarket bolt and I still feel like I just should of went with Kidd there too lol.

Yes. Kidd scalloped bolt, Kidd reciever, Kidd trigger, Kidd internals and Kidd barrel. Boyd stock.

I am just a casual plinker. I have shot from 25-100yrds. It is REALLY accurate.
