Lew's Laser Pro

Featured Replies

Laser pro speed spool on sale at Cabela's for about half price ($70). Recommendations? Only in 7.1.1 gear ratio, which I've got already, but seems like too good of a deal to pass up.

What ratio do you need?  They also have the Lew's Tournament MG, in 5.4:1 and 6.4:1, for $79.99, which is also a great price for a really nice reel.  I've got one of these and may have to grab another one.

What do I need? Depends on who you ask. I'm looking for a cranking reel so the 5.4:1 would be great, but I'm also not picky about much. But if you asked my wife she would tell you I have enough..

No,  Lews is a good reel but stay away from the Laser anything from them. The Lew Laser is on a graphite frame, get one with an aluminum frame. The new Lews LFS Speed Spool is $99.99, for $30 more you'll have a reel that will last a lot longer and will perform better, graphite framed reel can flex a little and once it happens the gears never line up right again and that is when the grinding starts and the reel begins to break down. Save up the extra cash and get the better reel, you'll thank yourself later on.
