After a great amount of research, hopefully, yesterday I pulled the trigger on a *** *** Black 6' 10" M/F baitcasting rod. I also purchased a Quantum Smoke SL 100SPTA baitcasting reel with a 6.1:1 gear ratio to pair with my new ***. For Years, all my bass fishing has been done with a 6' rod with my trustworthy Ambassadeur red 5000 reel sitting on top and consisted of tossing spinner baits. Last Spring I was introduced to wacky worm fishing, and I was immediately hooked. I plan to use my new outfit for worm fishing only and continue to use my older rig for spinner baits. I welcome all your thoughts and comments. Thanks in advance.

Congrats on your new combo!  I own that rod and use it for wacky rigs, tubes and weightless senko and I really think it fishes above it's price point.  I think you're going to love it and it should balance well with the smoke.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the new combo.  Get ready to fall in love.  I predict you will shortly be adding to your arsenal.  Not familiar with Quantum reels nor that particular rod.  I do have the 7'3" MF ***.  Not fond of the rod's extremely thin handle, but I love it otherwise.  Get ready to be impressed if this is your first decent rod.

 

I also have a 6' rod that is dedicated to throwing spinnerbaits, but my older black 5001C is going on a Villain 7'6" MHF.
