I like to have rattles in my crankbaits and swimbaits because the water I fish is dirty most of the time.But I can't find how I can put rattles in any of my home made stuff?any ideas

I have drilled into the body and added rattle pods like I use on my jigs. Probably not the most efficient way but it works. After drilling the hole and installing the pod I just add epoxy over the hole to smooth out the body.

Although I haven't put rattles into wood baits, I do add rattles sometimes to jigging spoons by tying a rattle to a treble hook using fly tying thread and finger nail polish to keep the thread locked tight to the rattle (I also tie some Flashabaou, Krystal flash, or mylar strands to give it a little flashy look and some strand movement). You might be able to use the treble/rattle idea with your wood cranks (and the trebles can be changed easily).  A pic below is a graphic of roughly how they come out.

Are your baits already painted and cleared?   If so you are going to make the finish look not so good.   You also run the risk of getting water to the wood.

If the baits are unfinished then I like to drill a 1/4" hole behind my balast approx in the center of the body.   Trim down a glass worm rattle (pointed end) with a cut off wheel and insert.   It makes a really nice click.

KB uses a .22 shell casing with bb's to make his own rattles.  I've done it a few times.  It gets the job done and it's cheaper than buying rattles.
